FUTHER EDITING

EDITING: WHAT I HAVE LEARNT

I have now nearly finished editing our film opening, "10 years".
I have created a short time-lapse video showing my process of editing.

CONSTRUCTION: FINAL KITCHEN SCENE

CONSTRUCTION: FINAL KITCHEN SCENE
When it came to filming this, and creating the story board, we decided it was key to film in an actual home kitchen, not our sixth form centre one. It was important to underpin a few of Amberleighs characteristics and lifestyle just through the interior of her home. We wanted to show how she was just a normal teenage girl (if you would like to learn more about Amberleigh, I have made a pinterest).

We used extra lighting to create shadows which added an enigmatic feeling, and climax. I took on responsibility of photographer, assistant director and was in charge of making sure the main prop (news scene on laptop) worked well.  I also created another GIF underpinning all the photos taken.

I have attached a very short clip  below which shows me running out of view after just making sure the laptop was in the appropriate position.

Here is Amberleigh. We had her dressed in PJs which revealed a lot of skin. This is because Amberleigh is eye candy and attractive. It also presents her as vulnerable and innocent.

CONSTRUCTION: PIANO SCENE

CONSTRUCTION: PIANO SCENE

The piano scene is one I believe worked extremely well. As the editor, when it came to editing it on iMovie, it was extremely challenging yet the outcome was better than expected.

The scene and weather was iddlic, the reflection on the piano wasn't something as a group we had even considered, yet helped greatly in underpinning the wealth and class. As a group we took advantage of this, and used Tammy, who is small enough to stand on a chair and film the surrounding through the reflection on the piano.

I created a small Gif using HTML to present my images from filming.

When it came to editing, it was extremely hard to portray a realistic death and after trying so many effects on iMovie we were presented with the idea of taking screenshots and using it as a series of photos. I have clearly displayed this small yet effective part in the opening sequence below.

CONSTRUCTION: OFFICE SCENE

CONSTRUCTION: OFFICE SCENE

In the office scene, I took on role as director. We filmed this quick and basic scene using 3 different shots. We used a panning shot, over the shoulder and first person shot. In a few seconds we incorporated all these shots together to make a realistic and dramatic first scene.

I have made a short video, demonstrating these shots individually to make it clearer.

In this scene, especially the panning shot, I made sure I allowed plenty of space for the title to appear. This worked successfully, as is clear in our official opening sequence.

We used a dark room, with a single spot light to help create climax and tension.
When filming I used a tripod in order to get smooth transitions regarding the panning shot.

CONSTRUCTION: VAN SCENES

CONSTRUCTION: VAN SCENES

Today we completed filming the the van scenes of our film opening, 10 Years. All members of our film opening group congregated at my house, where the van was kept.

Below are some videos I recorded of the process of filming . I uploaded these onto my film openings Instagram also. These videos were also uploaded on my film openings Twitter page creating continuity between the films social media websites, resulting in an 'inter web' of  our films related information. This creates a buzz with our film openings followers.

This is a video I filmed during the process, it is perhaps a "behind the scenes", and I also posted this on my twitter feed. Aswell as being a director and part of a filming crew, I am also a viewer and I feel I get particularly excited by small videos uploaded onto social media. They create a buzz as I have already stated.

This video also features the camera man, Harvey and actresses Ellen and Tammy, which helps the audience to relate and understand the characters out of the film.

The van scene was particularly successful I believe, as it was a very unusual setting. Ellen, was in charge of the props, and I believe the big map made the scene even more effective.

EDITING: FIRST TIME

Today, I took responsibility for editing and uploading our scenes for the first time. I am familiar with iMovie, so just started by placing all the footage in appropriate order.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES : FILMING

FLIPAGRAM

Today we filmed a very important scene based on the killing of the mother. I took responsibility of director and photographer. Filming went really well and as a group we were very pleased with the results.

To display the pictures, I have used a new tool called Flipagram. Its a slideshow of the pictures I took, and includes a picture of me filming.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES & FILMING NEWS SCENE: MOLDIV

MOLDIV & FILMING NEWS SCENE

Today we filmed an extremely important scene in which I took control of the script, photographing, setting up the props and assistant director

To make the scene realistic we used police tape and had the forensics specialists in proper uniform. This created a narrative for the crime, as it was clear it involved a murder.
We also found a great location which looked like a rustic house where a murder had just taken place. We used a middle-aged, smartly dressed and upper class women to present the news, as this again created a realistic sense.

This is a clearer picture of the forensic actresses costume.

Also for distribution, we uploaded a picture of the two forensic actresses on our Instagram page. This again released a clue to the anticipating audience, and reminded them of our
film. This Instagram post was particually effective, and through the '#filming' we were able to get a few more interested followers. Instagram is a recently new app involving hashtags (also used by Twitter) that distributors can use on the 'notes page' when feeding information on the Instagram feeds. Using hashtags will niche the audiences findings making the search for my film more accurate - only pictures, promotional post and advertisements will be found under the official hashtag or fan made hashtags . Hashtags can also apply to actors, directors or anyone associated with the film  - this makes it easier for my target audience to reach information relating to the film.

As well as filming, I have found a new technology called Moldiv which helps me display my pictures in a clear and efficient way.

In this collage of pictures, I have presented a few 'behind the scenes' pictures (the director of this particular scene, Harvey) , as well as a close up to the news reporter and forensics. I also included a picture that I posted on my media Twitter account.

PLANNING: TEAM MEETING/RE-EVALUATION

PLANNING: TEAM MEETING/RE-EVALUATION

As a team, we all find it extremely important to make sure we are all on each others wavelength. We spent todays lesson looking over our original idea, and seeing if there was anyway we could expand it, and make it better. We also checked that our filming was up to date and everything was going well.

As a team we also made sure everyone was involved and scripts had been written for upcoming scenes, I took control of the main script for the news scene.

So far, the filming is going well and we are completely up to date. We are all extremely happy with our idea and have made a small minor changes just to maximise the audiences pleasure and climax when watching.
